To the elders, deacons, and members of Kenly Missionary Baptist Church,
Over the last two years, the Lord has been placing on my heart a burden to evangelize the lost and to help believers become mature, faithful disciples. My heart is burdened for those outside the church who, so often, for whatever reason, are hesitant to come inside the walls of the church.
I believe God is leading me to go beyond the barriers of race, denomination, and social class to share the gospel and minister to everyone in our community and wherever else He may lead me. I believe God is directing me to go to public officials and leaders in our community and county to encourage, pray for, and share the biblical mandate God has for each of them. I want to be a part of transforming our community by helping to advance God’s Kingdom.
I realize if I am to minister in this way to our community and beyond, it will infringe upon my duties as pastor of KMBC. I will be unable to fully discharge my obligations as pastor. Also, I do not want the ministry and mission of KMBC to be hindered as I love this church body dearly.
It is with much prayer and sincerity of heart that I have decided to step down as pastor effective the end of August. I wish to do whatever I can to be of assistance to the members of KMBC as we transition into a new phase in our church history. I am excited about the plans God has for our church’s future. I will make myself available to help in any way I can. I am truly grateful to this church for allowing me the opportunity to be your pastor. You have been most kind and gracious to me and my family through the years. I will continually pray for you as you are still very much my family in Christ.
May God bless you all,
